Day 3 Camino-From Roncesvalles to Akerreta (30KM)

Day 3 Camino-Video Snapshot

Day 3 Camino- the beauty of Roncesvalles

Before dawn, the pilgrimage path is illuminated by the intertwining moonlight and stars, shining upon the weary or excited faces in the refuge. Jet lag momentarily transports me back under the Spanish night sky, where the silhouette of the 12th-century church stands solemnly in the sacred light.

At 7:30 in the morning, we embarked on our journey guided by the shell markers. The picturesque landscape of the Spanish countryside is enchanting; although there are some rocky sections, today feels much easier and more enjoyable compared to the hardships of crossing the Pyrenees yesterday, allowing for easy conversation with fellow companions.

Along the way, I met many interesting pilgrims. Philip shared his insights: this journey has given him the time to reflect on every kind person he has encountered in life, sincerely expressing his love to them. At lunchtime, software engineer Adam introduced me to his YouTube channel, "Hike on the Camino," hoping to inspire more people to embark on their own journeys of exploration through his hiking experiences. During dinner, I had a delightful conversation with Lifner, an outdoor enthusiast from America. He is carefree and believes that "having no plan is the best plan," following his inner guidance, which defines his own pilgrimage.

As I walked through a tranquil forest, the silence was so profound that I felt I could hear a feather fall. This stillness did not frighten me; instead, it filled my heart with an unprecedented peace, as if I could hear my inner voice. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled spots of light that illuminated my soul.

With a calm mind, I felt the rhythm of nature, the gentle breeze, and each breath seemed to engage in photosynthesis with the earth.

These two days of journey have inspired me. Most of the pilgrims I encountered came from Western countries, and my conversations with them made me realize that their philosophy of "working to live" contrasts sharply with our Asian approach of "living to work." The differing values of East and West have created unique cultural foundations, deeply influencing various aspects of economics, society, and life. Perhaps before the age of 40, I can uphold the diligent spirit of the East, and after 40, I can try to learn from the West’s enjoyment of life, broadening my perspective to see and experience the world. On this pilgrimage, I have the opportunity to converse with people from different countries and backgrounds every day, as if it were a divine arrangement, allowing me to view the world from various perspectives and learn many life lessons.

Buen Camino!
